CC-OEA Grant Activities 2009-2010

CCIE and College of the Canyons won a State Department Grant, Community College - Opportunities for Education Abroad (CC-OEA). This was the only community college awarded grant in education abroad given by the State Department. CC-OEA will expand education abroad opportunities at California community colleges by providing a model multi-disciplinary program, incentives for cross-institutional collaboration, and avenues to sustain internationalization efforts. The CC-OEA grant will document and disseminate best practices for future implementation by community colleges nationwide. CC-OEA grant activities include:

  1. 4 Institutional Grants so that CCIE member colleges can develop and/or augment a education abroad program in agriculture, hospitality, public health or tourism. Programs should also include a service-learning component. Each grant is up to $ 6,500.
  2. A total of 77 Student Scholarships to participate in these newly designed programs.
  3. Thematic Workshops and travel-grants for faculty/staff to attend.
  4. Student Survey

Announcements for applications for the Institutional Grants and Student Scholarships will be forthcoming. Details on these programs will be offered at the CCIE Annual Meeting on Nov. 20 at the CCLC Convention.
